£678,995 Approved For Castlerock Footbridge Restoration
Nov 27, 2024Plans to restore the historic Castlerock Footbridge have taken a significant step forward following a meeting of the Environmental Services Committee.
Councillors agreed to recommend proceeding with the most economically advantageous tender, paving the way for the long-awaited project to progress.
The tender, submitted by Adman at a cost of £678,995.74, covers the repair, repainting, and re-erection of the iconic bridge.
Councillor Huggins, who proposed the recommendation, expressed her personal connection to the project, stating, “This bridge is very close to my heart, and I am thrilled to see it reach this stage.” Alderman Fielding seconded the motion, calling the footbridge a “landmark feature” for the area. Councillor Bateson also voiced strong support for the bridge’s reinstatement.
