A full planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for a new residential development in Coleraine.

The proposal outlines the construction of 80 social and affordable housing units on Housing Zoning CEH55. The planned development, located on lands north of 1-7 Laurel Park, west of 73-89 Strand Road, east of Laurel Hill Gardens, and south of Killowen Primary School, aims to deliver a mix of housing types.

The scheme includes 6 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom apartments, alongside 9 two-storey townhouses. It also proposes 40 two-storey semi-detached dwellings and 7 two-storey detached homes. The development plan features open spaces and associated infrastructure works, such as the closure of a private laneway onto Strand Road and the creation of a new access point onto Laurel Park. Additionally, surplus land within the area is set to be reallocated as residential curtilages.

The application represents a significant effort to address housing needs in Coleraine, offering a blend of social and affordable tenures to accommodate a range of residents.

The application will go before council's planning committee in the coming months.
