Alderman Proposes to Honour Portstewart, 'Best Place to Live in NI'

local news May 14, 2024

To celebrate its recent accolade, Alderman Richard Stewart will propose the installation of signs at each entry point to Portstewart under any other business during this evening’s council meeting.

The signs will commemorate the town’s recognition as the best place to live in Northern Ireland by the Sunday Times 'Best Places to Live 2024' list.

As a proud resident of Portstewart, Alderman Stewart expressed his delight at the town's prestigious title. "I was delighted that our town was named the best place to live in Northern Ireland by the Sunday Times 'Best Places to Live 2024' list.

As a council, we should mark this honour," he stated. His proposal aims to acknowledge and celebrate this achievement visibly and permanently.

Portstewart, a charming seaside town, received high praise from judges for its strong community spirit, which they described as the "beating heart" of one of the country's "most graceful" towns. The recognition in the annual Sunday Times guide highlights the town's appeal and the quality of life it offers to its residents.
