All-Female Senior Leadership Team For Causeway Coast And Glens Policing District

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed that, as of Monday, 3rd March, the Causeway Coast and Glens Policing District is being led by an all-female senior leadership team.

District Commander Superintendent Sinead McIldowney, who assumed her role on August 3, 2024, continues to lead the district,  supported by two experienced female Chief Inspectors with extensive expertise in local policing.

District Commander Superintendent Sinead McIldowney said:
“As of Monday 3rd March, the Causeway Coast and Glens Policing District will now see an all-female led senior leadership team in place, following two Chief Inspector positions being occupied by two female officers, who both bring a wealth of experience to the existing team and communities they will now serve.

“Over recent years, significant progress has been made in fostering gender equality across the organisation and I’m delighted to see the continued work during my time as District Commander. Not only is this a remarkable milestone for the policing community, but a significant step forward for the service as a whole, as we continue to promote gender equality in the workforce.

“With females now holding more senior leadership roles across the organisation now than ever before, it’s important we, as female role models, can inspire and mentor not only other women in the organisation but the women and girls in the local community who are the future leaders of policing. I hope the example set in this District will encourage more women in the service to pursue senior roles. It’s certainly a positive time to be part of the exciting changes happening already this year as we continue to adapt to the constant challenges we face.”
