Ballymoney Rugby Club has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan to transform vacant farmlands into sports facilities.
The club has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Causeway Coast & Glens Council detailing its vision for a significant upgrade.
The proposal includes converting vacant farmlands and expanding the historic Ballymoney Rugby Club to accommodate three new grass pitches and practice areas.
This development will enhance access and all-weather parking areas, consolidating pitches and surfaces to create a comprehensive sports complex.
The associated site works represent a sustainable development of the current outdoor sports and recreational activities.
Ballymoney Rugby Club aims to become a leading example of inclusive grassroots sport within the local community. This expansion will cater to the growing needs of the club's players and supporters, enabling the hosting of concurrent home matches and securing the club’s future for years to come.
In a supporting planning statement, the club expressed its commitment to promoting inclusive sport and providing high-quality facilities for all.
The proposed development is crucial to achieving these goals and ensuring the club's long-term sustainability.
A community engagement event will be held at Ballymoney Rugby Club, 63 Kilraughts Road, Ballymoney, BT53 7HL, on Tuesday, 4th June 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. All community members are invited to attend.
