Bell Tent Village to Welcome Hundreds of Visitors to Coleraine During The Open

A temporary bell tent village is set to bring an additional 350 to 500 visitors to Coleraine this summer, as excitement builds ahead of The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Up to 150 bell tents will be pitched in the grounds of Coleraine Grammar School by Bristol-based company Nine Yards Bell Tents, offering visitors a unique and comfortable base just eight miles from the world-famous course.

The Open returns to the Causeway Coast this July, with more than 250,000 spectators expected over the course of the week. As hotel prices climb and local accommodation fills up, the glamping-style option provides a well-timed alternative for golf fans eager to stay nearby without paying premium rates.

The riverside site in Coleraine will offer more than just a place to sleep. Guests can expect real beds, hot showers, proper toilets, and winter duvets for added comfort. A shuttle bus will operate between Coleraine and Royal Portrush each day, with breakfast served on-site each morning and Persian-inspired evening meals available for those returning from the course.

Coleraine, sitting on the banks of the River Bann, provides a welcoming base with a lively town centre, local pubs, independent shops, and authentic eateries. The wider Causeway Coast area is known for its dramatic scenery and visitor attractions, from the Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge to the sweeping sands of Castlerock Beach and the tree-lined avenue of the Dark Hedges.

The addition of the bell tent village is a boost not just for visitors, but for the town itself. It’s expected to bring increased footfall to local businesses during one of the busiest sporting weeks of the year for Northern Ireland.

Nine Yards Bell Tents, who have been delivering pop-up accommodation and adventure experiences since 2016, say they’re looking forward to bringing their distinctive setup to the region for the first time.
