Castlerock - Exciting New Development Proposed for 4 Main Street

local news Oct 27, 2023

A planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council that could significantly change the face of 4 Main Street, Castlerock.

The proposal outlines the demolition of the existing buildings and the construction of a 3½ storey building that will house a retail unit, a coffee shop, and nine apartments.

The current buildings, which are considered ageing and inefficient, will be replaced with a higher-density development aimed at making better use of this centrally located site. The proposal is seen as a sustainable solution due to its proximity to the railway station and a bus stop at Castle Walk, which would provide residents and visitors with easy access to public transport.

The proposed development will retain the existing convenience store and coffee shop, recognising their importance to the local community. These facilities will be situated on the ground floor of the new building, with four parking spaces allocated within the grounds, maintaining the current arrangement.

Moreover, an outdoor area connected to the coffee shop will be partly covered by the upper floors of the building, creating a unique space for customers to enjoy.

The application will go before Councils planning Committee next year.
