Causeway Coast and Glens Producers Sweep 36 Gold Stars

Causeway Coast and Glens celebrated an exceptional day as local food and drink producers clinched an impressive 36 Gold Stars in the esteemed UK Great Taste Awards 2023 which were announced on 1st August. 

These stars, the ultimate seals of approval, were blindly tasted by a panel of respected experts, including chefs, cooks, buyers, and critics. 

This year's star tally surpassed the previous year's count of 23, signifying remarkable growth and excellence in the region's culinary offerings. 

Taste Causeway members have been celebrating a number of standout performances. Morelli's Ice Cream shone with two coveted three-star awards for their Pistachio Swirl and Clotted Cream with Irish Black Butter Ice Cream.  Notably, first-time entrants like Basalt Distillery impressed with their Giant’s Basalt Rock Gin and Fidela Coffee garnered recognition for their Sandona Coffee, both gaining two stars. 

Also gaining recognition as first time was Naturally North Coast and Glens Devil's Churn excelling with their Original Caramel Sauce and Campfire Salted Caramel Sauce, along with other exceptional offerings. 

Congratulations poured in from the Guild of Fine Food and renowned chef Paula McIntyre, emphasising the prestige of these awards. The region's producers have set an impressive standard, and their products are an excellent endorsement for the local food scene.
