The Causeway Shantymen are ringing in the New Year with a renewed commitment to their partnership with Portrush RNLI, as they continue to champion the life-saving “Float to Live” message.

Having already established themselves as Water Safety Ambassadors, the Shantymen have used their sea shanties and public appearances to raise awareness of water safety across Northern Ireland’s coastline. Their ongoing support amplifies the RNLI’s vital work, which includes lifesaving missions that protect those in peril along the Causeway Coast.

“Music has a unique way of connecting people, and we’re proud to use our voices to spread such an important message,” said a representative of the Causeway Shantymen. “We remain deeply committed to supporting Portrush RNLI and ensuring more people know how to stay safe on the water.”

The RNLI’s “Float to Live” campaign advises individuals in distress at sea to remain calm, lie back, and float until they can regain control or call for help. This straightforward advice has been credited with saving lives and continues to be a focal point of the Shantymen’s water safety advocacy.

As 2025 begins, both the Causeway Shantymen and Portrush RNLI hope their partnership will inspire greater awareness and safer practices among those who enjoy Northern Ireland’s stunning but unpredictable waters.
