Councillors Propose "Magical Christmas Experience" For Coleraine

Coleraine could soon sparkle with festive magic if a new proposal from local councillors comes to fruition.

At a future meeting, Councillor Philip Anderson, seconded by Councillor Tanya Stirling, will put forward a Notice of Motion calling for a scoping exercise to establish a unique Christmas experience in the town.

The vision, inspired by events like Yulefest Kilkenny in Ireland and the Enchanted Winter Garden in Antrim, seeks to transform Coleraine into a festive destination, centred around the historic Market Yard. The initiative would aim to create a Christmas wonderland for the community, with a focus on seasonal charm, family-friendly activities, and community engagement.

The proposal highlights the potential for Coleraine to become a festive attraction, drawing inspiration from successful events elsewhere to deliver something unique for residents and visitors alike.

If approved, the scoping exercise will explore the feasibility, design, and potential partnerships required to make the vision a reality, with a view to launching the event in time for the 2025 Christmas season.
