Following the severe impact of Storm Éowyn, Deputy Mayor Tanya Stirling has expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped during the storm and the ongoing clean-up.

Storm Éowyn was one of the strongest storms in recent years, causing significant damage to parks, buildings, and homes. Many residents are still without electricity and water as repairs continue.

Deputy Mayor Stirling said, "I would like to thank everyone across the Council area – including first responders, representatives, and Council staff – who worked hard to respond to Storm Éowyn. Your dedication has been essential during this difficult time."

She also highlighted the important role of the Council, local councillors, and the media in keeping the public informed. "The Council, our councillors, and the local media have been key in providing updates and ensuring that people know about the help available."

Deputy Mayor Stirling urged those without power or water to visit the Council’s Community Assistance Hubs. "If you are still without electricity or water, please visit our Community Assistance Hubs. These centres provide a warm place to charge your phones and use facilities like showers while we work to restore services. Opening hours for these hubs can be found on Council's social media channels and website."

Deputy Mayor Stirling concluded by acknowledging the hard work and cooperation shown by everyone involved. "Together, we are progressing in recovering from Storm Éowyn, and I am confident that we will overcome the challenges it has brought."
