The Duddy brothers, who are behind the Derry-based Duddy Group, have recently declared their intention to invest in the Portrush Atlantic Hotel, having gained complete ownership of the north coast venue.

In 2015, Larry and Brendan Duddy Junior were part of a group of investors who purchased the former Ramada Hotel for £2.75 million. The hotel, which was once owned by the Kennedy family, was placed into administration by Nama in 2013. It subsequently came under the control of Cerberus following the acquisition of Nama's northern loans.

Having now acquired full ownership by buying out their business partners, the brothers plan to invest in the property.

The completion of the hotel’s acquisition was officially on September 29, with the financial terms of the agreement remaining undisclosed.

Brendan Duddy said the group now have their eyes fixed on The Open, which returns to Royal Portrush in 2025.

“We see Portrush as growing its accommodation sector substantially in the coming years, especially for the lucrative American golfing market,” he said.

“The town benefits greatly from not only its stunning location, but also its association with some of the world’s best golf courses.”
