Excitement Builds for the Opening of Causeway Campus in Coleraine

local news May 30, 2024

Progress continues at Causeway Campus in Coleraine as staff count the days to its opening.

The eagerly anticipated facility will be operational on 1 August 2024, just in time for the 2024/25 academic year.

Located on the expanded site on Union Street, the new purpose-built campus promises to be a hub of innovation and community integration. The main entrance, accessible from Union Street and Anderson Park, welcomes visitors into an airy 'garden room' that seamlessly extends the park into the building.

A standout feature is transforming the former St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Hall into the St Patrick’s Centre, a self-contained performing arts and music hub. This centre is conveniently connected to the main building by a path and can also be accessed via Brook Street and Circular Road.

Spanning 12,600 square meters, the Causeway Campus offers a dynamic space for work and learning. It boasts several areas open for public use and hire, including a restaurant, hair and beauty facilities, a sports hall, and an innovation space capable of accommodating up to 350 people in various configurations.

Confirming in a statement to Explore Causeway Coast & Glens, a spokesperson for Causeway Campus said, "While the fitness suite will initially be exclusive to staff and students, this policy will be reviewed throughout the year."

As the opening date approaches, the community eagerly anticipates the opportunities and vibrant activities this state-of-the-art campus will bring to Coleraine.
