Festival weekend at Tartine Restaurant at Distiller’s Arms
Oct 05, 2023The Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival is almost upon us. We have caught up with Chef Patron and Producer Gary Stewart of Tartine at Distillers Arms to find out what he is planning for this annual celebration of food and drink.
Over the years, Gary Stewart has been an active volunteer in many aspects of the food and drink offering, whether it be the development of the Bushmills Taste Trail in conjunction with The Bushmills Business Association, Cookery demonstrations, pop-up food stalls as well as themed menus available in Tartine at Distiller's Arms.
'We are really looking forward to this year's Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival. We kick start the weekend by welcoming Wendy Gallagher from Causeway Coast Foodie Tours and her guests for a festival lunch on Friday 6th, October 2023'.
Friday evening, Gary and the team are leading the Dine Around Bushmills event, a sell-out event that includes lots of delicious local food and whiskey! Saturday 7th, the restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner (reservations in advance are highly recommended ). As part of the Bushmills Taste Trail, the menu will feature several festival specials, including a themed cocktail and their award-winning Seafood Chowder served with Guinness wheaten bread. Those who have managed to secure reservations at Tartine on Saturday evening will not be disappointed by the festival specials and the ever-increasing local drinks menu which is championed at Tartine.
Sunday 8th October Tartine will serve their popular Sunday lunch and dinner menus with tasty Taste Trail specials. Gary will be in Sharvagh House as a part of the local Chef demonstrations and will introduce you to some up-and-coming talent as part of the NRC showcase.
Gary also delights followers by announcing, 'Due to popular demand, we will sell our Seafood Chowder and Guinness wheaten bread at a pop-up stall as part of the Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market. Our range of sauces will be available to purchase from the Seasons of the Glens stall and Tartine at Distillers Arms.'
A cookery demonstration showcasing local chefs will take place on the grounds of Sharvagh House (just down from Tartine at Distillers Arms). They start at 12.30 pm. Paula McIntyre MBE will also be headlining the Main Street Cookery demonstration from 12.30 pm.
Gary tells us, 'This year, we are delighted to see so many local businesses making the effort to participate in the Bushmills Taste Trail. Visitors and locals can enjoy great food, drink and music in the various venues. We encourage all to support our local businesses this year and enjoy the market buzz and chef's demonstrations.
