Former Ballycastle Scout Hall Could Become New Home Under Planning Proposal
Mar 26, 2025
A planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council which, if approved, would see the former Scout Hall on Market Street, Ballycastle converted into a private dwelling.
Located at 10 Market Street, the building has been described as “redundant” in a design and access statement accompanying the application. The proposal sets out that the change of use would involve only minimal alterations to the external structure, ensuring that the visual character of the surrounding area is maintained.
According to the submission, the existing yard would be repurposed as amenity space, with vehicular access remaining from Moyle Road. The developers say no changes to existing boundary treatments are required and that the development would have no adverse effects on local character or the architectural setting.
“The proposal maintains and enhances the form, character and architectural features, design and setting of the existing building,” the statement notes.
The application is now awaiting consideration by Council planners.
