Journey of Remembrance: Marcus Christie's Epic Three Peak Hike in Tribute to His Mother

Marcus Christie Hike

Marcus Christie is preparing to embark on an extraordinary endeavour this weekend by climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales, and Scotland: Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m), and Snowdon (1,085m) in memory of his mother Joan Christie CVO OBE and in aid of Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

With a good-humoured nod to his late mother, who was not fond of exercise, Marcus aims to complete the challenge within 24 hours. Initially, Marcus hoped to raise £5500, which is the daily operating costs for NI Air Ambulance, in gratitude for their efforts and in memory of his mother.

On December 28th last year, a tragic accident later took the life of Joan Christie CVO OBE, a beloved wife of the late Dan and much-loved mother of Joanna, Harriett and Marcus.

Despite the swift response of the NI Air Ambulance, which arrived on the scene within 20 minutes of receiving the emergency call, Joan’s injuries proved fatal, and she passed away in hospital on 1st January 2023.

The NI Air Ambulance is a life-saving service reliant solely on donations, and Marcus has managed to raise a staggering £16,000 to date.

Still, his supporters believe he can smash his target to £20,000 by appealing to the many people who have not had the opportunity to donate to date to dig deep as Marcus will be doing as he undertakes what will undoubtedly be emotionally and physically challenging.

Marcus extends his heartfelt appreciation for any support the community can offer as he embarks on this poignant and physically demanding journey in memory of his beloved mother.
