Long-Delayed Sale of Dunluce Centre Finally Completed

Apr 15, 2024
Dunluce Centre Portrush - Sold

After years of negotiations and setbacks, the sale of the Dunluce Centre has been finalised, marking the end of a prolonged divestiture process for Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council.

The entertainment complex, first placed on the market back in 2016, has seen its share of drama, including a significant insurance claim following a fire in 2022 that complicated closing negotiations. The resolution of this claim last month paved the way for the sale's conclusion.

The council confirmed that the sale contract was approved during the council meeting on March 26, 2024.

The new owner, Donegal businessman Colm O’Donnell, has ambitious plans for the premises. The centre, which originally opened in 1993 and closed two decades later due to dwindling visitor numbers, is set to undergo a transformation into a year-round Family Entertainment Centre.

O’Donnell's vision includes an expansive 'Inflata Park', a climbing wall, children's amusements, a food court, and various outdoor activities. The purchase price is reported to be around £1.25 million.
