The Marine Hotel, located in the picturesque coastal town of Ballycastle, has announced an exciting £2 million investment project in preparation for the highly anticipated 2025 Open in Portrush.

Co-owner Colum McLornan and business partner Claire Hunter shared their ambitious plans with the Belfast Telegraph to enhance the hotel's offerings, including the addition of 16 new bedrooms, a revamped food and drink experience, and the introduction of self-catering accommodation.

One of the major highlights of the investment is the inclusion of self-catering facilities, which will be situated within the premises of the former country club spa. This addition aims to provide guests with a more versatile and personalized stay, allowing them to enjoy the comforts of a home-away-from-home experience while visiting the stunning coastal region.

For McLornan and Hunter, the Marine Hotel holds a special significance as they celebrate the milestone of 10 years since acquiring the property for a modest sum of £400,000.

Their journey began when the hotel faced financial challenges and fell into receivership following the bankruptcy of its previous developer, Ballycastle native Mervyn McAlister.
