MRI Facility Proposed for Causeway Hospital

Coleraine's Causeway Hospital is set to expand its medical capabilities with a proposed addition of an MRI healthcare facility. The application for this development has been formally submitted to the Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the region's healthcare infrastructure.

The proposed facility is for a MRI Scan Room and associated ancillary accommodation. The Proposal includes a first floor plant room and a link corridor to the existing hospital. Associated site works include new pedestrian access, new plant enclosure and external landscaping. 

In February DUP representatives, Gregory Campbell MP and MLAs Maurice Bradley and Alan Robinson welcomed news of a CT scanner and MRI scanner for Causeway Hospital.

The East Londonderry representatives have been pressing the Trust for additional services at the Coleraine hospital following the closure of the maternity unit.

"This is very welcome news. We have been pressing for more investment in Causeway and we hope that this is the start of things to come," they said in a joint statement.
