Banking Hub Portrush

Explore Causeway Coast & Glens can confirm that a lease for a new Banking Hub in Portrush was signed on April 18, 2024, for premises on Eglinton Street.

Over the years, the seaside town has lost several banks and has limited ATMs.

When open, the hub will offer a counter service where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions.

It will also offer a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Community bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week: Monday – Barclays, Tuesday – Ulster Bank, Wednesday – Santander, Thursday – Bank of Ireland and Friday – Danske Bank.

Gregory Campbell MP has welcomed the news today that a lease has been signed for the Banking Hub at 15 Eglinton Street.

In a statement to Explore Causeway Coast And Glens, he said, "I have been pressing Banks for several years about the effect Branch closures have on many people. Banking Hubs, while not ideal, are better than no physical banking provision at all. As a Member of Parliament covering Portrush, I am pleased to see a Hub established in the town. As the premier tourist destination in Northern Ireland, it is vital to the local businesses and hospitality sector that ATM and banking services are returned to the town. Many people still prefer to use cash, and there have been numerous occasions in commercial premises when the 'card machine' has broken down. Cash users must be catered for as well as those using cards."
