New Welcome Hut Approved to Improve Visitor Flow and Security at Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge
Oct 29, 2024Planning permission has been granted for a new welcome hut and ticket booth at the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, replacing the current structure, which has been deemed inadequate for continued use.
According to a design and access statement, the proposed replacement aims to streamline visitor movement by directing entry and exit to one dedicated area beside the booth, under a sheltered lean-to.
This new configuration is expected to enhance both accessibility and security at the popular site, ensuring a more controlled visitor flow.
Currently, the exit route lacks clarity, with visitors directed to the rear of the existing booth. The proposed redesign addresses this by creating a more intuitive pathway that aligns with the natural movement of visitors, who typically seek to leave through the same entrance they used.
