North Coast Artist Turns Attention to the Mournes with Solo Show at The Slieve Donard

Portrush-based Artist Adrian Margey, who is celebrated for his enigmatic portrayals of the North Coast, has turned his attention to the Kingdom of Mourne lately.

Margey’s stunning new collection which places a strong focus on the landscape and landmarks of County Down and the Mournes area will be going on show at the newly refurbished Slieve Donard Resort and Spa Newcastle County Down this Bank Holiday Weekend (Saturday 26th – Monday 28th August).

Contemporary and traditional depictions of Murlough Bay, Spelga, Silent Valley, Newcastle, Annalong Harbour and Dundrum Bay will feature prominently, with portrayals of North Down and the Ards Peninsula also on show. Best known for his vibrant colour palette and simplified form, visitors will also enjoy Margey's more recent work which uses a naturalistic colour palette and impressionistic style. Belfast and Dublin cityscapes and interpretations of the artist’s beloved North Coast are also tipped to be popular with collectors.

"I'm delighted to be exhibiting my new collection at the beautiful Slieve Donard Hotel this Bank Holiday Weekend. I find the Mournes area rich in inspiration. The mountains, forests and beaches have all helped inspire this new body of work. Of course, there is no where quite like home, so I will be exhibiting a number of my North Coast themed artworks as well. Portrayals of Dunluce Castle, Ballintoy, Portstewart Strand and Portrush will all make an appearance. I'm very much looking forward to chatting with visitors over the weekend," enthused the artist.
