Plans lodged for new apartments and retail space in Coleraine
Apr 10, 2025
Plans have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for a mixed-use development in the heart of Coleraine.
The proposal, submitted by Kentos Developments Ltd, outlines the construction of 24 apartments alongside a new retail or office unit at 7 Beresford Place, just off the town’s central thoroughfare. The application also includes provision for car parking, landscaping, open space, and all associated site works.
A design and concept statement accompanying the application describes the location as "benefiting from its close proximity to local amenities, transport links and key services". The developers say the site lies within the established urban fabric of Coleraine and aim to ensure that the project enhances the existing built environment.
Coleraine, situated along the River Bann, is one of Northern Ireland’s most historically significant settlements. Traces of human activity in the area date back to the Mesolithic period, with its strategic location playing a key role during the Plantation of Ulster in the 17th century. Today, the town serves as a commercial, educational and tourism hub within the wider Causeway Coast and Glens region.
The Beresford Place site is surrounded by a mix of traditional and modern architecture. According to the developers, their proposals have been designed to reflect and respect the area’s architectural heritage while contributing to what they describe as a “diverse and vibrant urban environment”.
The application is now subject to the council’s planning process.
