Portstewart: One of UK's Top 5 Favourite Seaside Destinations

Portstewart has been named the third favourite seaside destination in the UK, according to a survey conducted by consumer champion, Which?.

Over 3,000 visitors were surveyed and asked to rate their experiences of visiting seaside towns within the last year. The criteria included the quality of the beaches, food and drink offerings, tourist attractions, and value for money.

Portstewart secured an overall score of 84%, with visitors praising its "broad sandy beaches" and "attractive harbour and promenade". The town's "fantastic beach" and the selection of cafes that sell "home-style baking" were also highly commended.

Meanwhile, Bangor in County Down secured an overall score of 49% from visitors, putting it in the middle of the pack.

Rory Boland, editor of Which? Travel, said: "Few countries can be home to such a diversity of brilliant seaside breaks. Whether you want world-class beaches and utter wilderness, or a resort's bright lights and bucket and spade atmosphere, the UK has a seaside break made for you."

Boland added, "What our survey shows is that it's rarely the most famous destinations that visitors enjoy most. Try somewhere new this year, and our survey shows you should find fewer crowds and better value."

Portstewart's ranking is expected to boost the town's tourism industry significantly, and it's hoped that it will encourage more visitors to explore the beauty and charm of this coastal gem.
