Public Invited to Shape Future Of WWII Anti-Aircraft Dome in Limavady
Jan 17, 2025The Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust is seeking public input on the conservation and future use of a significant World War II site in Northern Ireland. A survey has been launched to gather opinions on the historic Anti-Aircraft Training Dome at Artikelly, near Limavady.
Built during the Second World War, the dome is one of only a few surviving structures of its kind, used to train anti-aircraft gunners in realistic combat scenarios. The Trust aims to preserve this rare piece of military heritage and explore potential future uses that could benefit the community and visitors alike.
The survey encourages feedback from local residents, interest groups, community organisations, businesses, and education and skills development organisations across Northern Ireland. The collected insights will guide decisions on how best to conserve and repurpose the site.
A spokesperson for the Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust said: "This dome is an important part of our wartime history, and we want to ensure its future is shaped by the people it most affects. We welcome ideas and opinions on how this site can be conserved and enjoyed by future generations."
Those interested in contributing to the future of the Artikelly Anti-Aircraft Training Dome are encouraged to complete the survey and share it with others who may be interested in the site. The survey is accessible online, offering an easy way for the public to participate.
