Adelphi Hotel Portrush

Plans for a revamp at the Adelphi Hotel in Portrush are moving ahead following its May closure.

The 28-room, four-star hotel on Main Street, previously managed by the Holmes family, has been purchased by US property group AJ Capital Partners, part of their Marine & Lawn golf hotel portfolio.

AJ Capital Partners, which already has a presence in Northern Ireland after acquiring the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle for £40 million in 2021, has recently submitted two new planning applications to Causeway Coast & Glens Council for a series of refurbishments.

These include new external signage, updated lighting, a fresh paint scheme for the building’s exterior, and safety enhancements such as a balustrade and safety screen on the internal staircase.

The rejuvenated Adelphi is expected to reopen ahead of The 153rd Open, set to return to Royal Portrush from 17 to 20 July next year.

Once complete, the hotel will become the sixth property in AJ Capital Partners' Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts collection.
