Riverside Theatre’s Future in Doubt As Vice-Chancellor Confirms Review

At a full council meeting last night, Professor Paul Bartholomew, Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University, was questioned by Alderman Yvonne Boyle regarding the status of the Riverside Theatre and whether it would remain on the Coleraine campus.

In his response, Professor Bartholomew confirmed the theatre is currently under review, highlighting the substantial capital and infrastructure improvements needed. He added that, at present, he could not provide any firm assurance about its future.

However, he emphasised that the situation is being carefully evaluated, and discussions are ongoing on how best to support the theatre.
