The RDS in Dublin recently played host to the Panel of Chefs of Ireland Culinary Competitions, held as part of the expansive CATEX exhibition.
Taking place every two years, CATEX showcases the very best of the hospitality industry.
From 18th to 20th February, leading chef talent from across Ireland vied for medals in categories ranging from ‘Best Lamb Dish’ and ‘Mystery Basket Cooking’ to ‘Best Seafood’.
Representing Tartine at the Distillers Arms in Bushmills, chefs Gary Stewart and Tyler Campbell excelled in every category they entered.
Chef Tyler impressed the judges with a Silver medal in the Riso Gallo Young Risotto Chef of the Year heat, a Bronze in the Silverhill Duck category, and a Merit award in Fresh Pasta cooking. Meanwhile, Chef Gary also triumphed with a Bronze medal in the Silverhill Duck competition and a Merit award in Fresh Pasta cookery.
Gary, who is patron of Tartine at Distillers Arms, explained: “The Panel of Chefs Competitions at Dublin’s CATEX provide an incredible opportunity for chefs to push their boundaries, create new dishes, and network with others in the industry. Competing at this top level is immensely rewarding, and we’re delighted to bring our awards back to Bushmills and the Causeway Coast.”
