153rd Open - Portrush

As the calendar turns to 2025, excitement is building across the Causeway Coast & Glens as Portrush prepares to host The 153rd Open, marking a landmark year for the region. The prestigious Championship will take place at Royal Portrush from 13-20 July 2025, with practice rounds kicking off the week on Sunday, 13 July, before the first round begins on Thursday, 17 July.

Tickets for The 153rd Open sold out in record time, with general admission allocated via a ballot, highlighting the global anticipation for golf’s oldest Major. Fans around the world will be able to tune in through a host of broadcast partners, including NBC / Golf Channel in the United States and Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland. Details of additional international broadcasters will be announced in the lead-up to the event.

This will be Portrush’s third time hosting The Open, following memorable tournaments in 1951, when Max Faulkner clinched the Claret Jug, and in 2019, when Shane Lowry secured a historic victory on the County Antrim coast.

For those unable to attend, comprehensive coverage will be available across multiple platforms. R&A TV will stream live content, including Featured Groups and a dedicated Par-3 Channel. Meanwhile, The Open Radio will deliver full live commentary, complemented by real-time updates, live scoring, and a dynamic live blog on The Open’s website and app.

With its rich history and spectacular coastline, Portrush is set to take centre stage once again, showcasing the best of golf to a global audience.
