Portstewart husband and wife artists Adrian Margey and Evana Bjourson are staging a major joint exhibition of their work at Portballintrae Village Hall this weekend: Friday 28th – Sunday 30th July.

Margey is well known for his dynamic portrayals of Northern Ireland’s landscape and landmarks. His bold, colourful depictions of the North Coast have particularly brought his work to prominence. Also featured in this exhibition will be his more impressionistic work that adopts a naturalistic colour palette and employs hand and finger painting techniques.

Bjourson’s stunning work incorporates human interaction, seascapes and coastal experiences observed through the lens of transience. Her figurative work reflects thoughts on the reason for and role of humanity while her dynamic wave paintings take inspiration from life on the North Coast. The artist initially trained as an architect. Several pieces in the exhibition capture cherished buildings on the North Coast, bringing the artist full circle.

"Evana and I are delighted to be staging a joint exhibition this weekend in Portballintrae Village Hall. From depictions of Portballintrae Harbour and Runkerry Strand to Ballintoy, Dunluce, Portbradden, Carrick-a-Rede, Portstewart Strand and Whiterocks Beach - the exhibition acts as a real celebration of the Causeway Coast. Although our work often takes inspiration from the same coastline, our styles are very different. I hope visitors to the show enjoy our contrasting work," enthused Adrian.

The Exhibition opens on evening of 28th July: 6pm – 9pm and continues Saturday 29th July: 11am – 8pm and Sunday 30th July 11am – 6pm at Portballintrae Village Hall. Admission Free – Everyone Welcome. Free parking is available in front of the Village Hall. The artistic duo can normally be found working out of their studio and gallery at the junction of Mark Street and Main Street Portrush.
