Waggy Races: Join the 10th Anniversary Fun at Portstewart Strand

tourism events visit causeway coast and glens Aug 22, 2024

Mark your calendars for Sunday, 29th September, as the much-loved Waggy Races returns to the scenic Portstewart Strand, bringing with it a special celebration—ten years of dogs, dunes, and dashing along the sand. This isn’t just another day at the beach; it’s the 19th Waggy Races, and it promises to be more spirited than ever.

This year’s event will draw around 200 pairs of eager participants—humans and their furry companions—ready to tackle the two-mile stretch of golden sands at Portstewart Strand. With its rolling dunes, sweeping coastal views, and refreshing sea breeze, it’s easy to see why this National Trust beach has become the heart and soul of Waggy Races.

Portstewart Strand, frequently recognised as one of the UK’s top Blue Flag beaches, will once again transform into a vibrant playground for the event. Tails wag in unison, and the air is filled with the joyful sounds of paws hitting the sand. It’s not just a race; it’s a celebration of the deep bond between dogs and their owners, set against the stunning backdrop of one of Northern Ireland’s most cherished shorelines.
